Strathcona Centennial Expedition Journals
Strathcona Centennial Journals
In 1910 twenty-three adventurers, led by the Hon. Price Ellison, set out to explore the mountainous heart of Vancouver Island. Their mission was to determine whether or not the area was suitable for a park. The grand journey they had and sights they saw led to the formation of Strathcona, British Columbia's first Provincial Park.
One hundred years later, in 2010, a group of local Vancouver Island outdoor enthusiasts re-traced the steps of the original expedition reaffirming the beauty of Strathcona and recording their adventure in words and film.
Now the stories of these expeditions are available in two beautifully prepared books and a high-quality documentary film.
