Wind. If it's not howling from the south east then its blowing from the north west, charging off the mountain sides, or screaming off the ocean. Wind is all around Vancouver Island. It attracts windsurfers and now kitesurfers to several hot spots that are becoming world famous for clean and consistent wind. Nitnat Lake, Nimpkish Lake, Goose Spit near Comox and beaches along the west coast have all become the neighbourhood playgrounds for those that dance with the wind.
Windsurfing is the traditional method of choice, and it remains popular. But now kite surfing is taking over. Blending surfing, wakeboarding, kite flying and windsurfing the sport is fast, high flying and full-on adrenaline.
However you play with the wind Vancouver Island is good. |
