Skiing on Vancouver Island

Ever wish you were in on the secret stash before it became known? You know: a local at Fernie in the early 1990s or Whistler in 1980. Well you haven't missed out yet.

Vancouver Island is a little known skiing Shangri-La. The snow falls deep if not always light. The snow stability is often bomber and the terrain endless and little traveled.

For lift loving folk Mount Washington Alpine Resort offers something for everyone. For powder hounds, "Head north my friend," Mt. Cain is the little known destination of choice. And for those that like to make their own tracks the Island is yours to explore.
Just don't forget where you heard it first.

Strathcona Nordics
The Strathcona Nordics are Vancouver Island’s Cross Country Ski Club. Our activities are based at Mt Washington near Courtenay, B.C. We are a not for profit society dedicated to skier development and the promotion of the sport of cross country skiing for fun, fitness, recreation and health. We are also working to improve the infrastructure and facilities and for cross country skiers on Vancouver Island. Our long-term goal is to send skiers and officials from Vancouver Island to the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
